    The italian textile industry

The history of textiles is the history of craftmanship. It’s a history which has more to do with art than with trades, with masterpieces created in small workshops, with hands which have spent a lifetime giving shape to innovative products and new manufacturing techniques…

  • BandArtigiana was founded in 1985, a very special artisan company whose mission is to manufacture scarves, wraps and accessories according to the tradition of Italian culture and fashion. A sectorial specialisation ahead of its time in a market where everyone believes only in the production and sale of classic fabrics…

Textile production in Prato during 1200/1300 … the textile production began to grow consistently during this historical period, encouraged and protected by the Prato Arte della Lana corporation (Wool Guild). The turning point was given by the very famous merchant Francesco di Marco and his manufacturing, under whose impulse fabrics from Prato spread all over Europe. Textile production in Prato between 1950 and 1980….this is the industry’s golden age. During these 30 years, the number of textile workers increased from 22,000 to 60,000; from 1960 onwards we also witnessed the renewal of machinery and technology and a production diversification towards high quality items.

  • BandArtigiana… a new awareness of our potential leads to “BandArtigiana” in 2016, a brand which has deep roots in the textile history and is a production model structured with the utmost attention towards quality and the respect for traditions typical of the artisan world… BandArtigiana wants to represent the future of the Prato textile production, without forgetting its manufacturing vocation. At last, the experience of a lifetime and the ability to innovate and create trends are at the customer’s service.
